Comments Policy
Under each article or list you see at this site, there’s a little cartoon dialogue bubble with the word “comment” next to it. When that function is enabled, it means you can post a comment about what you’ve just read, and it will appear right there, under the item.
How to post
Before you can post a comment, you have to register. Here’s how to do that:
- Scroll down this page and click on “register” at the right side of the page.
- Enter your unr.edu email address and your actual name (first and last).
- A password will be emailed to you shortly thereafter with instructions on how to log in. Sometimes the password gets diverted to junk mail, so check in your junk folder if you don’t see it in your inbox.
Why do I have to register?
It’s like submitting a letter to the editor. If you’re going to comment publicly, the public deserves to know who’s commenting. Also, although anyone can visit this site, comments are welcome only from employees.
What’s qualifies as a valid comment?
As the name suggests, Our Workplace is by, for and about us, the employees of the University of Nevada, Reno. We encourage employees to voice their opinions and share what they know with colleagues. But it’s not “anything goes.”
The site is moderated, meaning any comment you post has to clear the editor’s scrutiny first. It may take a while for this to happen, especially if you submit something when the editor isn’t working, like late at night or on the weekend.
The editor will refuse to post anything deemed — in the editor’s full discretion — to be illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, infringing of intellectual property rights, invasive of privacy or otherwise injurious or objectionable.
Also unwelcome and disqualified will be personal attacks, comments that stray from the topic at hand and any message that’s trying to sell something.
Don’t go overboard
A friendly word of advice: Be smart and be nice. Don’t say something online that you wouldn’t be comfortable saying to someone face to face or in front of anyone else.
