The Western Society for French History will present Sandra Ott, associate professor in the Center for Basque Studies, with the Millstone Prize in Albuquerque, N.M., Nov. 10.
The University posthumously awarded Cole Campbell an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony, May 18, on the historic University Quadrangle. Campbell was Reynolds School of Journalism.
Fungisai Nota, a doctoral candidate in the resource economics department at the University, is this year’s recipient of the Thornton Peace Prize, an annual award that given to an individual or group from the campus community who exemplifies the philosophy that force is not an acceptable means of settling disputes.
Some 23 faculty from across campus were honored with emeritus status at the May 16 Honor the Best ceremony.
David Shintani is the 2007 winner of the University’s top honor for undergraduate research faculty mentoring.
Sean Casey and MaryAnn Demchak are this year’s winners of the top undergraduate and graduate advisor awards, respectively.
Seth Boyd and Kate Ingram are this year’s winners of the Distinguished Teaching Assistant Awards.
Carol Ort, associate professor of biology, was honored as the University’s 2007 Distinguished Service Award winner.
David Westfall, emeritus professor and chair of pharmacology, dean of the College of Science and vice president of academic affairs, has been given the top University honor, the Distinguished Faculty Award.
