2008 Classified Employee of the Year Nomination sought
Each year the Staff Employees’ Council honors one outstanding classified employee as CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR. We ask for your help in identifying exceptional candidates for the 2008 award.
The recipient will be announced at the “Honor the Best” award ceremony on May 14, 2008 and will receive a plaque, a $1,000 honorarium, and special recognition at the annual Staff Employees’ Council luncheon in June.
Nominees must have an employment record of five continuous years of classified service with the University of Nevada and be employed during the current fiscal year. This is a separate process from Employee of the Month nominees and recipients are not automatically considered for this award. Nominators of employees who received the monthly award are hereby encouraged to submit nominations for Employee of the Year. The nomination form is attached or you may go to http://www.unr.edu/sec/Forms.htm and click on Classified Employee of the Year nomination form.
A carefully prepared and compelling nomination should address the following criteria with supporting examples:
1. Concern for the University at large and its goal.
2. Attitude toward fellow employees, faculty, students, and the public.
3. Attitude toward work: availability, cooperation, courtesy and friendliness.
4. Quality of work: accuracy, creativity, initiative, dependability, and timeliness.
5. Professional development, awards received and community service activities: attendance at workshops, classes, lectures, committees and/or volunteer work.
The committee views nominations for this award to be an honor. The committee may ask the nominee to supply material, but should not solicit or compile his or her own nomination. Nominations are evaluated on the quality, not quantity, of material submitted.
