Chase, Quihuis named January Classified Employees of the Month

Brenda Quihuis (Summer Session)

Brenda has an incredible workload but at the same time is the epitome of the perfect team player. Even though she is only ‘officially’ responsible for Summer Session, Wintermester and Evening Studies programs, she consistently jumps in to help with Independent Learning and Freshman Start questions. Her extreme courtesy and friendliness is evident with her continual collaboration and partnership with at least 26 different academic departments on campus in sending budgets and building a slate of more than 600 classes in summer. She is a true ‘generalist’, strong in financial areas, student registration issues, programmatic issues including marketing, have strong editing skills, and are able to work effectively with a variety of people. The University as a whole, along with everyone Brenda works with directly, benefits from her work and interpersonal collaboration philosophy.

Debbie Chase (Office of Medical Education)

Debbie has a marvelous “can do” attitude toward all the people with whom she interacts. She has taken all of the processes and procedures in her job description and improved them. As the scheduler for the Year 1 and 2 medical school classes, she took the process from a paper-based hand entry system and set up a Microsoft Outlook system which is available to everyone online. She also put the entire electives catalog online so everyone, including out of state and international students have easy access to the forms and information. Debbie has successfully accomplished her tasks and improved the department’s ability to plan for longer term curricular changes and class size growth.
