By: Zanny Marsh

September 21st, 2007

The department of sociology will host a panel presentation and workshop for faculty and staff to recognize and be sensitive to PTSD symptoms in University students who are also veterans. “PTSD in our University Veterans: How to Spot it and How to Help,” will be held Sept. 27 from 12 to 1 p.m., in the JTSU Alumni Room.

Marta Elliott, associate professor of sociology, anticipates that the workshop will provide useful information to faculty who want to recognize and assist in helping University students who may be suffering from PTSD.

Panelists include Reno Veterans Center providers Scott Drew, marriage and family therapist and David Baird, licensed clinical social worker and team leader. John Newman, outreach coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs, will also present.

Participants are encouraged to bring lunch. Dessert is provided.
