The Department of Human Resources is pleased to announce an On-Line learning opportunity for faculty and staff who are interested in increasing their knowledge in work related trainings or in developing new skills that will enhance their efficiency and productivity personally and professionally. This is a one-year pilot program geared specifically to the needs expressed by faculty and staff in developing the Professional Development and Training proposal two years ago for the campus.

This brand new e-learning tool is being presented to the UNR campus community as Nevada Professional On-line Development (N-POD) and will be accessible from the Human Resources Website.

On-line development is not a new learning phenomenon but one the Human Resources department is pleased to provide to the faculty and staff. N-POD offers over 800 courses including trainings on Interpersonal Relation Skills, Management/Leadership essentials, Diversity, Customer Service, Project Effectiveness, Business Strategy and Operation, balancing personal & professional life, and administrative support skills, to name a few. A catalog with a listing of available courses can be accessed on the Human Resources website at: http://www.unr.edu/vpaf/hr/development/npod.html

In an effort to optimize time management, this new developmental tool can be utilized 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. The trainings range from three to five hour sessions and can be completed in segments as opposed to one sitting. There are pre-tests and post tests with a required score of 75% or higher in order to receive a certificate of completion for the class. Courses can be accessed from any computer using the employee unr.edu email address. This is a volunteer program. Classified employees using N-Pod for approved work trainings must coordinate the time with their supervisor. Call BCN-HR (784-6844) if further clarification is needed in this regard.
