From Clark Hall to Getchell Library to the brink of the Knowledge Center, Harold “Hap” Morehouse has been an integral part of University Libraries for more than four decades. When he retires at the end of June, he will have spent nearly 46 of his 50-year library career here. So, he sat down last month to reminisce about his personal and University memories.

Dr. Daniel Spogen, professor of family and community medicine, was recently named chair of the University of Nevada School of Medicine’s Department of Family and Community Medicine in Reno where he will oversee the scholarly, clinical and administrative operations of the department.
Faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to the second annual Nevada State Network Conference sponsored by the American Council on Education Office of Women in Higher Education. The conference will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Student Union.
The Faculty Senate met on June 7 and considered various topics, including the Conflict of Interest Policy, Summer Scholars Program, nominees to Search Committee for Executive Vice President and Provost, Effort Reporting Draft Policy, and other matters, including an update on the legislative session’s impact on the University.
A Farewell Reception thanking Provost John Frederick will be held on Wednesday, June 27, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The reception will take place at Honor Court and President Milton Glick will deliver a speech at 4:30 p.m.
University faculty and staff were honored June 7 at the Nevada Women’s Fund 16th annual celebration of Women of Achievement event. Among the honorees: Wendy Calvin, Jennifer Kimmel, Jewel Radcliffe and Sina Ward.
Tatiana Gouem and Pat McDonnell are the June 2007 Employees of the Month.
Barbara Kohlenberg, a professor in the Department of Psychiatry, and Marta Elliott, a professor in the Department of Sociology, have been awarded a more than $100,000, two-year grant to study suicide attempts.
