University faculty members prepare to teach abroad

Thirteen University faculty members were chosen by University Studies Abroad Consortium to teach in other countries during the 2008-09 academic year. These faculty members will have the opportunity to teach in places such as Chile, China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Italy and Spain as part of the USAC program.

University, ASUN offer posthumous tribute to Campbell

The University posthumously awarded Cole Campbell an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the Advanced Degree Commencement Ceremony, May 18, on the historic University Quadrangle. Campbell was Reynolds School of Journalism.

Education Friends support student scholarships, technology endowments

Friends of the College of Education recruited a field of 32 foursomes to “Tee It Up for Teaching,” May 12, at Lakeridge Golf Course. Gov. Jim Gibbons played in the fifth annual golf tournament that raised $33,000 for student scholarships.

Nota wins Thornton Peace Prize

Fungisai Nota, a doctoral candidate in the resource economics department at the University, is this year’s recipient of the Thornton Peace Prize, an annual award that given to an individual or group from the campus community who exemplifies the philosophy that force is not an acceptable means of settling disputes.
