David Thawley, dean of the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources, and Rang Narayanan, associate dean for outreach in CABNR, were recently presented with the Honorary Nevada FFA Degree.
The honor was given to the two longtime CABNR administrators during the Nevada Future Farmers of America Association convention in Reno on March 23.
“It’s the highest degree that the state FFA offers,” said Heather Dye, executive director of the organization.
“Both David Thawley and Rang Narayanan have played instrumental roles in the convention’s success over the years. They have helped bring the convention to the University of Nevada campus, and have been a great resource for our organization in getting individuals to help.”
This year’s 78th annual Nevada FFA convention drew 394 Nevada high school students to the campus for the convention and career development event. FFA students study agriculture education, and compete in many different career development events that includes leadership-based sessions.
