Women’s Studies program hosts reception for visiting artist, April 3

By: Zanny Marsh

March 22nd, 2007

The Women’s Studies Program will host a reception for visiting scholar and artist Hou Yongyi at 5 p.m., April 3 in Mackay Social Science Room 124. Yongyi is displaying her collection of paintings, “China Soul Vessel.”

Her exuberant paintings reveal many impressions of her first visit to the United States. Yongyi was captivated by the wide skies and colors of Nevada, the expanses, and the friendliness of the people. Her paintings are sometimes soulful, sometimes impatient, but they consistently express appreciation for movement, form, and color.

Additional information is available at the Women’s Studies Program office at (775) 784-1560 or by email: consuelo@unr.edu.
