Officer Warren Conley and Officer Jaime McGuire were recently honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for their efforts in education, prevention and enforcement related to underage drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol.

At the 3rd Annual Law Enforcement Recognition Awards Ceremony, held February 23, at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, officers received certificates of appreciation for their work in preventing alcohol related deaths on Nevada highways.

The ceremony was sponsored by the Lyon County MADD chapter, which serves all of northern Nevada. Awards were presented by Reno City Council member, Sharon Zadra.

Officer Conley is actively involved in promoting alcohol awareness to student groups and works closely with the office of Student Judicial Affairs and the Office of Alcohol and Drug Prevention.

He often speaks to fraternity and sorority groups and participates in other forums such as the “Busted” program. Officer McGuire is a hard-working enforcer of the zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking and DUI.

Currently working the graveyard shift, she often encounters situations where alcohol consumption creates safety issues for students and takes appropriate action.

Director Adam Garcia said: “It’s gratifying to see our efforts recognized in the community. We’re proud of the work we do and of the officers who represent University Police Services in a positive light. The recognition by MADD is an affirmation of their hard work and dedication.”

University Police Services also actively participates in the Northern Nevada DUI Task Force, Join Together Northern Nevada, and various Neighborhood Advisory Boards to address alcohol related issues in our jurisdiction.
