IT Update: Easy workarounds for Office 2007

Because documents created in Office 2007’s new default file format may not be compatible with other versions, IT recommends the following two workarounds:

  1. Change Default — When working in Office 2007, change your default file format to save your documents in the previous Office 2003 format to ensure maximum compatibility.
  2. Download Patch — Microsoft has a download that allows you to open and edit Office 2007 documents in previous versions of Office for Windows. To download, go to the Microsoft download site.
