The clinical practices of the University of Nevada School of Medicine will soon unveil a new brand name and look—University Health System.

After more than nine months of both internal and external research, it has been determined that University Health System better reflects the scope and range of services available to patients through the school’s statewide multi-specialty clinical practices.

University Health System represents the school’s recently integrated chief clinical practices formerly known as MedSchool Associates North, MedSchool Associates South, and Nevada Family Practice Residency Program.

The initial aim of the new brand and corresponding marketing campaign is to increase public awareness and market share in both Reno and Las Vegas.

The long term goal of the practice is to establish University Health System as the best option for patients seeking compassionate state of the art medical care within a university medical school environment.

The new name and logo has been “softly launched” in both Reno and Las Vegas. Nevada Wolf Pack fans were the first to see the University Health System brand on a large billboard outside Mackay Stadium.

The billboard was installed for the Pack’s first home football game and will reside on the south side of the stadium for the duration of the academic year. Print advertisements are also currently running in select Las Vegas publications. Further outdoor, print, and broadcast advertising will commence in the next six to 12 months.

University Health System encompasses 25 different medical specialties with eight stand-alone healthcare clinics in the Reno-Sparks area and five healthcare facilities in metropolitan Las Vegas. Specialties include endocrinology, genetics, neurology, ophthalmology, oncology, and plastic surgery.

The system is made up of more than 185 doctors who both teach and practice medicine. These physicians share a common mission to provide the highest quality care to patients and teach the physicians of tomorrow. University Health System physicians see more than 35,000 hospital patients annually and deliver more than 5,500 babies throughout the state each year.

As the state’s only public medical school, the University of Nevada School of Medicine has been meeting statewide healthcare, educational, and clinical needs since 1969.

The School of Medicine encompasses 16 clinical medical education departments, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery, as well as ten nationally-recognized departments within basic science including microbiology and biomedical engineering.

The University of Nevada School of Medicine utilizes a best-practices approach to medicine and is committed to addressing the health needs of Nevada now and in the future. For more information, please visit www.unr.edu/med.
