Funding available for humanities projects
The next deadline for grant applications to Nevada Humanities is Oct. 10. Matching grants ranging in size from $1000 to $10,000 are available to any non-profit group or public agency in Nevada.
Nevada Humanities seeks proposals for public humanities programs in all formats - exhibits, lectures, conferences and other public programs, including historical characterizations (”Chautauqua” presentations). Grants are also available for publications (including web-based projects), teacher institutes and programs for youth.
Nevada Humanities is particularly interested in projects that build community through conversation, foster partnerships and collaboration, encourage critical thinking and reflection, and preserve Nevada’s history.
Of the grant funds available for 2006 – 2007, $50,000 is earmarked for programs in American history. Most projects in local or Nevada history should qualify in this category. Please consult Nevada Humanities staff for details.
Grant guidelines can be reviewed online. For more information, please contact Nevada Humanities in Reno at (775) 784-6587 or (800) 382-5023, or in Las Vegas at (702) 895-1878.
