President Milton D. Glick will be inaugurated as the 15th president of the University of Nevada, Reno during a ceremony at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 on the University Quadrangle.

Everyone is invited, but please RSVP for this event. Registration for the picnic reception has closed. Attendees may register to attend the inauguration only up to the day before the event.

Faculty members are encouraged to wear business attire. Only those in the platform party will wear academic regalia. In the unlikely event that weather necessitates the event to be moved indoors, the decision will be made that morning and updates will be provided on the University’s home page.

The inauguration will feature speeches by Gov. Kenny Guinn and Chancellor Jim Rogers, as well as Paul Mitchell, professor of journalism.

Other speakers include Jeff Champagne, president of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada, Reno; Rebecca Bevens, president of the Graduate Student Association; Bill Oberding, chair of the Staff Employees’ Council; and Guy Hoezler, chair of the Faculty Senate.

The Nevada Wind Ensemble and the Nevada Chamber Chorale will provide music during the event.

In other University events scheduled for the inauguration festivities, former primer minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto is the featured speaker for the 2006 University of Nevada, Reno Foundation Banquet to be held at 6 p.m., Sept. 28 in the Rose Ballroom of John Ascuaga’s Nugget.
